About us

WE'RE NOT JUST BUILDERS—WE'RE HORSEMEN

At Southwest Shed Co, we build custom horse shelters, arena footing systems, and quality fencing—but we didn't start in construction. We started in the saddle.

Donnie and Jen Woodmansee founded Southwest Shed Co in 2024 after decades of living and breathing the horse industry. As competitive riders who've earned money and titles in Team Roping, Ranch Rodeo, Barrel Racing, Versatility Ranch Horse, and Reined Cowhorse, we understand what horses need to perform at their best. More importantly, we know what keeps them sound for the long haul.

Donnie spent over 20 years as a professional firefighter and retired after 20 years of military service—bringing discipline, integrity, and a veteran's commitment to every project we build. He's been building custom shelters for our own horses for years, perfecting designs that survive Colorado's toughest weather while keeping horses comfortable and protected.

Jen brings over 25 years of veterinary industry experience as a vet tech, diagnostics product manager, and marketer. She's seen firsthand how proper shelter and arena footing impact horse health—from preventing respiratory issues to reducing joint stress and injury.

When we design a shelter or build an arena, we're not just moving dirt and putting up walls. We're thinking about:
